With the Moon culminating in the magnanimous sign of Leo, we are faced with strong feelings about leadership and social issues. Meanwhile, we are still collectively exploring some recent radical and rebellious ideas, courtesy of the Sun (along with several other planets) stationed in the opposite and more provocative sign of Aquarius. This contrast serves to show us how important it is to balance civic responsibility and civil traditions with our desire to shake things up, in the name of future progress and new stability.

While the Sun is in Aquarius, our collective attention is on groups, technology, innovation, and the future. However, the Moon peaking in Leo brings impulsivity and pride to what could otherwise be an analytical time of year. This season is about navigating between enthusiastic action and finding intelligent solutions that benefit humanity.

At its best, the Leo energy is dynamic, playful, dutiful, and noble which encourages us to take inspired action. However, the contrast between the Sun’s position and the Moon’s placement can have us caught off guard by our emotions, especially pride, stubbornness, pushiness, and agitation, causing us to become too controlling or frustrated. We can best navigate this time by THINKING before we ACT, and in honor of fire sign Leo by remembering to lighten up with some play time, too.

As always, these energies apply to groups of all sizes as much as they apply to individuals. So, stay mindful about keeping the peace while you process any uncomfortable feelings that arise. You can also expect some challenges to DUTY and discipline. The Leo Moon in opposition to Saturn in Aquarius means expressive emotions may be challenging our obligation to be future-minded during the days and weeks of this full moon. Stay centered and balanced as you remember your commitments.

And brave healing along with some surprising SHAKE UPS may also be in store. The moon’s positive trine aspect to helpful asteroid Chiron in Aries benefits us, while its provocative square formation with Uranus in Taurus keeps us alert and awake. We must learn to find the deeper stability and security even while change is underway.

Meanwhile, BRILLIANT OPPORTUNITIES may become more obvious. The moon activates lucky Jupiter while it provokes us to strong action with a square to Mars in Taurus. Best practices now are strong efforts toward what can be affirming possibilities, not impulsive or stubborn resistance.

The main message here is that good things come with our good intent and constructive follow through. Proclaim love and harmony and move toward creating more of that in your life. Let go of any tendency to react too quickly or aggressively when you feel confronted or conflicted, and you will come out ahead.

Full moons can also bring difficult emotions to a head. While we do our best to make sure we are all dedicated and positive, we may find emotional outbursts and sensitivity popping up, which may create overwhelm, stress, frustration, irritability, or confusion. Try to not take other people’s behavior personally, instead be more kind and charismatic and hold space for everyone’s feelings and ideas.

 While the full moon does have a collective effect on all of us, each person may respond somewhat differently to this same planetary aspect. The intensity will be greater or lesser depending on how well aligned you have your current thoughts and feelings. When you are living in your highest truth, the environment and things that happen around you are not as overwhelming.

The first full moon of 2021 in Leo is on Thursday, January 28th (exact at 11:16am Pacific Time, and 2:16pm Eastern Time). It is known as the Wolf Moon.

Try to remember that whatever is happening in your life is occurring as part of your life’s journey. Sometimes the details are pleasing and other times the lessons can be difficult, but either way, there is always something to be learned. And being prepared as well as aspiring to your best life is the secret to more easily navigating all of it!

The highest intensity of the full moon energy lasts roughly three days before and after the exact date. But the implications go beyond that initial period and reverberate. The greatest effects tend to occur within the thirty (30) day period. Since there is generally only one full moon in each sign per year, the results can last up to six (6) months until the next new moon in the same sign.

Retrograde Report: The big news now is an upcoming Mercury Retrograde at month’s end as well as the conclusion of a lengthy Uranus retrograde. The corresponding themes are intellectual processing, communications, transportation, and also some shifts in how we experience sudden change and surprises. Remember to double check all your plans during the Mercury Rx and be flexible as mistakes and delays are very likely during the retrograde window.

It takes two weeks for the moon to go from full to new, then another 14 days to increase back to Full Moon. So the lunar cycle is 28 days. This waning and waxing cycle affects all water on earth, including the ocean tides and also corresponds to human feelings, emotions, and intuitive processes.
